Our deities represent the forces of good, evil and neutrality that constantly watch over the land through their devoted followers. While those of evil alignment seek to destroy life and subjugate the lands around them, the goodly deities seek to restore order and prevent those dedicated to evil from accomplishing their goals. The neutral deities seek only to hold and retain the tentative balance between good and evil throughout the world. Who will succeed? Only you, the adventurers and heroes of the land can determine that fate.
At level five and above, your player character will be able to dedicate himself or herself to a particular deity with the devote command. Keep in mind that although devoting to deities seems like a pretty good idea, you do not need to devote if you don't want to. Adhering to the behaviour suitable for a follower of that particular deity is also very important, so choose a deity that best suits your character. Reading the help files or these webpages about the deities helps alot. And when in doubt, ask around. The friendly immortals and players of the Land Of Legends are more than happy to provide information if they can.
The deity system in the Land of Legends is controlled by favor points. Your favor level reflects how much your deity favors you. It can increase if you follow the principles and guidelines of your deity, and decrease if you go against your deities precepts or set alignment restrictions. If you ever deviate from your deity's chosen alignment, you will not gain favor until your alignment is back in line with your deity's. A high favor gives you bonus magics and resistances, while a low favor penalizes you. You can also trade in favor points by using the supplicate commands to call upon the powers of your deity to aid you in times of need. Favor ranges from -2500 to 2500. To use the supplication function, you must type in supplicate x where x is one of the special supplication abilities which you can call upon. You may supplicate for corpse, which retrieves your corpse after you've died, recall, which sends you back your recall point, object which summons a very special mighty object from your deity which acts as a light source while you wear it, and avatar which calls upon your deity to come and help you in a battle. You can also type the command remains to show you how far decayed your corpse is. This is useful if you are currently out searching for your corpse and want to know how long you still have before it disintegrates. Naturally, this command also requires the use of some of your favor points.
When you are ready to devote to a deity, you must type devote deityname. Devote allows you to devote yourself to a deity. If you leave your deity for another, your favor is set to -2500.

The Immortals of the Land of Legends are responsible for enforcing these laws, and their decisions in these matters will be abided. If you feel an Immortal has treated you unfairly, you may petition directly to a level 56 (God) or higher either 'in person' (online) or via mud mail through the Darkhaven Post Office. The decisions of a God or higher are final. To see which Immortals are online and visible, type who 51 at any time.
In addition to the 'normal' laws, the Land of Legends strives to make this a child safe environment, therefore we take certain things extra seriously here. We also, for the same reason, ask you to try to help one another as much as possible and be courteous and considerate at all times.
Roleplay here is not enforced, but it is strongly encouraged. So; if you play your character as helpful & friendly, you should be able to expect to be treated that way in return by all, also including the Immortals. The reverse is also true.

1> this game is based on fantasy. Events, persons, places, and items in-game, on this website, and in our forums are not real. Every part of this game is based entirely in a fictional world that Conner has created and around fictional characters which we've all created (including our players), any resemblence to any actual person, place, or thing in real life is purely coincedental.
2> while we do not intentionally collect any personal information from anyone in this game or these forums, email addresses and personal instant messenger contact information along with dates of birth and so forth are stored by the system if you choose to submit them, therefore we do not knowingly accept any members who are under the age of 13 here.
3> the term "immortal" is used to refer to anyone who is a staff member here, not actual gods/deities. To know what ranks exist amongst the immortals in regard to things that state such remarks as 'all decisions by Gods and above are final' one must refer to a list such as the following:
| Level | Title(s) |
| 51 | Neophyte, Retired, Guest |
| 52 | Acolyte |
| 53 | Creator |
| 54 | Savior |
| 55 | Demi God |
| 56 | Immortal |
| 57 | Lesser God |
| 58 | God |
| 59 | Greater God |
| 60 | Ascendant God |
| 61 | Exalted God |
| 62 | Ancient One |
| 63 | Eternal One |
| 64 | Infinite One |
| 65 | Supreme Entity |
Only Conner carries the rank/title of "Supreme Entity". This is not an indication that he believes he is a god, only that he is the primary owner, administrator, and coder for this game and its associated web sites and forums and thus he holds the highest game level.
Dragona is the only person who carries the rank/title of "Infinite One". This is because she is the only co-owner of the mud and its associated web sites/forums as well as the head builder for Land of Legends, consequentially, she holds the second highest game level.
Others hold or have held other rank/titles in our game which are a reflection of their status and responsibilities, not their belief that they are actual deities of any sort.
Again, these are not an indication that any of us who are staff level members here believe in any way that we are gods in real life, merely that we have roles to perform in-game and additional "powers" and responsibilities to the game than regular players ("mortals") here.
These ranks/titles were created by the original developers of the Smaug, Merc, and Diku codebases which our codebase is derived from, not Conner or any other person directly connected with this game.
