Illithid are known to other races as mind flayers, there is no singular of the word illithid. These creatures are not orginally of this world, but have found their way into the underdark through magical means. They are highly skilled at magics and psionics and excel as mages or psionicists. The are tall with grey flesh and have four tentacles that extend from their maws. They are said to eat brains as their only nourishment, and most other races fear and hate them, though none so much as the Gith.
