I've added the ability for admins to create blog posts that contain html and/or bbcode or even that don't accept either. (Resolved by Devenon in response to my specific feature request.)
I've also added the ability for admins to create blog posts that are tagged as unpublished (or to edit existing posts to unpublished status) so that they don't show up at all on the site. This would be useful in the event that an admin wanted to write up a blog that was really big (thus taking longer than one sitting) or that they didn't want to make public 'yet'. (Discovered/Resolved by Devenon.)
Now, here's the fun part, this post includes both BBCode and HTML, but I'll bet you can't tell where it's got which! ![]()
By the way, this added html support does not extend to blog comments because the folks currently testing/developing sandbox features felt that there are just too many ways that full html support could be abused to create security breaches and since comments can be posted by anyone, it was decided to only add the html support to blog posts. ![]()
Also, on a more personal note, Dragona and I have imported all of our existing blogs (and their respective comments) from our MySpace profiles and I've adjusted their post date/time stamps to match the originals. Once we get the rest of the pages and such here done and transfer anything else we feel we have a need/use for at MySpace and at Yahoo 360 and the other similar sites, we'll make public announcements at each of those sites that we're now using this site exclusively instead. Hopefully, I'll very shortly be adding the 'archives' links that Kiasyn and Samson currently have on their sandbox sites so navigation to read those older blogs will be much easier too.

a baby... ![]()
Well we went back today for the recheck on the heart and kidneys. They were able to get them, but the baby still was not in a position to find out what the gender is, there was a foot in the way...
Oh well, suppose we only have to wait a couple more months to get to meet the baby anyways. ![]()
Here is a picture of the new baby...
-=Dragona=-
We had another baby appointment today. I have lost about 4 pounds since last month. My blood pressure was great. I am measuring right on date. We get to have another ultrasound on Friday to try again to get baby to cooperate and get shots of the heart and kidneys since they did not get them on the last one. I suppose we will be posting another blog on Friday to update about that ultrasound and possiable a picture to go with it!
-=Dragona=-
I've added code so that when you hover your mouse over the links in the calendar, you'll get a little label with the title of the first post for that date. (Discovered/Resolved by Samson.)
I've also tweaked the auto-signature code so that it's a bit more to my liking, and while I thought Devenon had helped me set it up so that it would know if the admin had it turned on without anything in the message block below it, it would seem that piece of code is generating an error, so I've commented that out for now.
Oh, and I've added some reciprocal links for blogs/site of our friends to our Links page as well, they're at the very bottom if you want to check them out.
-=Conner=-
Well folks, I promised last week that I'd have pics here from the new ultrasound and then I got busy with everything else going on, including lots of changes here... Let me tell you a bit about my week. (You don't have to read it, you can always just wander off and never know.) ![]()
So, I got a ticket an the end of the week for not having a valid (passed) Virginia Safety Inspection Sticker on my windshield because when the windshield cracked badly enough that I couldn't possibly pass an inspection, I didn't bother to get one so my sticker expired in May of 2005.
So, on Monday morning bright and early (I hate mornings), the guys from the windshield repair company knocked on our door... $~250 and a half hour later, they left and my car had a nice pretty new windshield.
Wednesday morning (again with the nasty mornings), we had to go out for our Ultrasound (which went very well, but to Dragona's disappointment the baby was cooperating enough for the technician to determine the gender) then we returned a book at the library (a very common errand for us given that we're both horribly avid bookworms) followed by a brief trip to the auto shop for our Virginia Safety Inspection (another $16). We passed, though the inspector commented on the fact that my horn doesn't make any noise at all. So then we went to the courthouse to turn in our proof of passing the inspection so the ticket could be made to go away since it was a 'compliance ticket' (which means, according to the cop and the folks at the courthouse, that as long as we're in compliance before the court date, it's as if I never got pulled over, otherwise it's an $87 ticket) where we were told that everything looked to be in order but that we need to call the court house the afternoon of the hearing date to see if the judge approved the dismissal of the ticket because, apparently, the judge could arbitrarily decide to let the ticket stand even though we are in compliance.
Suffice it to say, I am really getting tired of legal matters in this country. ![]()
So, if any of you has the bandwidth and desire to see the video from the ultrasound, you can click on the link I just provided, the file is zipped (in windows XP, whatever format that's considered) to a mere 158.3 MB (166,029,946 bytes for those counting). I still think it's annoying that they needed to waste a DVD-R that they were only going to stick ~175MB of video on and then close completely. ![]()
Beyond that...
I think that covers everything actually. Though I'm sure that Dragona can fill us all in if I'm mistaken... Well, we also switched car insurance carriers this week and got some grocery shopping in, some mail done, and some trash out of the house, and some phone calls made, but those are all fairly routine and hardly worthy of a blog.. and we're hoping to have a special/important visitor who's LONG overdue tomorrow sometime, but there's no guarantees on that one yet, and if it does come to pass, well, I don't know that I'll be considering that to be anyone's business anyway. ![]()
Well, hope you enjoyed that recap of the week.

I'll follow this post in with the promised one about the Ultrasound and such after I post about the site updates...
I've added the ability for admins to ban IP's of those who post comments that require deletion. (Discovered/Resolved by Samson.) - Those who have been banned are no longer able to post comments nor use the contact page.
I've added the ability for admins to toggle on/off an automatic signature (which I've set to on for this post to test) which can be customized but will only be different between admins in that it automatically picks the name of the person posting rather than a standard one, but it can include whatever other text, including bbcodes, site-wide. (Discovered/Resolved by Devenon.)
There've also been several other minor changes, but they've been covered already in comments here and there, I think.
-=Conner=-
The following can be used in blog posts by admins here and in blog comments by you! (back on the 9th I announced (in a comment) that I'd added Devenon's smilie fix, well, tonight I've added a ton of new additional smilies and swapped out the ones we were borrowing from Devenon.) I'll apologize in advance for the fact that this is going to be a really long post, but it can't be helped overall... Oh, I also added an applet under the calendar on the right panel of the front page here to show the current weather and time where we live and I changed the footer credits slightly to use Kiasyn's
button instead of the text link, and I made a couple of minor asthetic changes to the admin control panel as well. I believe that's all for today, so, without futher introduction, I now present our new collection of smilies: (so that they will display, I'll insert a space into each one.)

As you can clearly see, in several cases there are more than one way to produce the same smiley, I've done that intentionally and fully intend to add a few more methods to the ones above that only have one way to produce them as I get time, at which point I will add them to this list. (For those with more than one way to produce that smiley, I've put them onto the same line with each other seperated by a space, a period, and a space so they're easier to locate. Please note that these are not in any semblance of an actual organized order beyond that. This also means that to use any of these you need to disregard the . and the space between the first and second characters in each.)
I added some usage instructions for the calendar on the right so it's easier to understand (I hope), as it's the way you navigate through the site's blogs. Basically the site only shows the five most recent blogs and to see any that came before that, you use the calendar to display the ones you want to see.
We were scheduled to go in for our next ultrasound today, the cool one where they record it '4D' so we get a 'video' of the baby but because it's been snowing off and on for the last couple of days and because our landlord hasn't cleared the snow off our street yet (which is a rather long steep hill which we live at the very bottom of), our poor little minivan couldn't make it up the hill. We got about a third of the way up the hill before the minivan started sliding back down. We eventually safely made it back to the house and had to call the hospital to reschedule.
We'll still be getting the ultrasound, but it'll be next Wednesday afternoon instead of this morning. Dragona is very unhappy about this, she was really really psyched up about this one. ![]()
I'm actually kind of glad that we've had to reschedule, while I would've really liked to have been able to see the ultrasound, especially with the video recorded directly to CD/DVD so I could post it here. Driving in the snow doesn't normally bother me, but driving on packed snow up that hill was pretty scary. So I'm pretty content with just the fact that we got back to the house without anyone or anything getting hurt. There were moments this morning that were a bit touch and go there.
Anyway, watch this space next Wednesday for a link to the video of our new baby! ![]()
Added code to make it send an email to the site contact address whenever a new comment is posted. (Discovered/Resolved by Samson.)
Fixed a bug that would have allowed a blog viewer to potentially post a comment to a non-existant blog thus creating SQL errors. (Discovered/Resolved by Samson.)
Made it so that the comment count beneath each blog post shows whether or not that blog post is closed to further comments already. (Discovered/Resolved by Samson.) (For an example of this, click on the calendar to the beginning of January.)
Made it so that 'auto post closings' happen automatically when an admin logs into the admin control panel. (Resolved by Samson & Devenon.)
Made it so that when an admin selects the option of manually reopening/closing blog posts, the listing function will report a count of how many there are to do either function with or exit out gracefully with a message indicating that there are none if there aren't any blogs posts to reopen/close currently instead. (Discovered/Resolved by Devenon.)
Added the ability for an admin to auto-close expired posts. (Discovered by Samson, Resolved by Devenon.)
For the time being, I've set this to 21 days so that posts over three weeks old won't be able to have new comments added to them, though they're still available for folks to read along with any comments that were added within those three weeks.
Added the ability for an admin to change the date/time format used site-wide to the admin control panel settings module. (This was discovered/resolved by Samson.)
Also added date/time stamping for blog comments. (Again, discovered/resolved by Samson.)
Reformatted the date/time stamp and author name fields for blog comments. (This was discovered/resolved by Devenon.)
Added a "hard line" between the last comment to a blog and the section to submit a new comment.
