Conner's Family

One more page added

For those of you who've been following our progress with this site so far, I've finally gotten my own page done (more or less) last night and hope to have some more changes coming in shortly. :)

In other news:

  • Zachary will be 18 years old in less than two weeks on Sunday, March 25th! :bday:
  • Aaron is 11 months old today! :)
  • And Clayton completed his annual homeschool testing yesterday and it's been mailed back for official grading, we think he did really well, but ..cross your fingers for him! ;)
  • Regarding the new baby, our next appointment isn't for another two weeks yet, on the day after Zachary's birthday.:nervous:

  • For things remaining still to be done, well.. we still need to
  • add a page for Dragona
  • add a page for Zachary
  • add a page for Isaiah
  • update the pages for Clayton, Aaron, and the new baby
  • add some files to the download section
  • add a ton of pictures
  • install akismet filtering and decide if we want to remove the captcha checking
  • find a way to add a guestbook of some sort for those who still want to 'leave their mark' without posting a comment as a reply to a specific blog post
  • get a working pastebin installed
  • find a way to set-up 'limited' admins so the kids can still add/edit their own blog posts, upload files/pictures to the downloads/galleries section (but not edit or delete any), etc.
  • decide whether I'm moving this up to Conner instead of Sandbox

  • I think that's everything, but I could easily have missed something, if I have and you know about it, feel free to add a comment to this blog post to remind me. :)

Limited admins. Hmm. Can see that being useful actually now that I think about it.

I might take a crack at this. What all should a "visiting author/admin/user" be allowed to do?

Create, edit, and delete their own blog posts?
Upload, delete, etc, images in their own gallery folder?

Not real sure what all they should have. Or how feasible any of this would be before 1.0 is out anyway.

Well, what I had in mind is that they'd login just like a regular admin, but only get menu options to add/edit/delete their own blog posts and associated comments, upload pictures to the galleries, upload files (and edit those same files), edit pages that are assigned to them, and change their own password. I don't think limited admins should need to be able to do/access anything else from the admin control panel, though I could be overlooking something. I suppose it's not unreasonable for them to also be able to delete their own images/files as well... I guess they should be able to also address the spam comments from their own blog posts too. Anything beyond that would probably depend on what other features we eventually add to the site. ;)

I don't think they should be able to delete blogs or comments at all. If they want one deleted then they need to talk to a regualar admin. I don't feel they should be able to delete comments either... What if they just don't like the fact that someone posted and they are not happy with what was posted? Editing and adding are fine but not deleting.
