Got a homepage? Know how the calender over there works? ----->

I added some usage instructions for the calendar on the right so it's easier to understand (I hope), as it's the way you navigate through the site's blogs. Basically the site only shows the five most recent blogs and to see any that came before that, you use the calendar to display the ones you want to see.

  • You can click on a date that's hyperlinked to see blog posts from that date
  • You can click on the name of a month to see all the posts for that month
  • You can click on the << to see all the posts from the previous month
  • or You can click on the >> to see all the posts from the following month.

  • Obviously, since all blogs create a hyperlink to their date on that calendar, if the date or >> or << or month name aren't linked, there's nothing available to show there. Yes, it ought to be pretty readily apparent from that calendar that we don't add anything here daily and may sometimes go several days between additions. (This was made possible due to assistance from Devenon.)

Also, I added the ability for the site to set a cookie so that if you post comments regularly the site should remember your name and homepage and turn your name into a hyperlink to that homepage on all of your comments. For this to work, aside from the fact that you'll obviously need to provide a URL to your homepage when posting a comment, you'll need cookies enabled in your browser. (This was discovered/resolved by Samson.)

Your sandbox is coming along nicely!  And I do like the mini instructions for using the Calendar feature.  It's easy to see and any users here will be able to look back at everything you've posted about in the past, far more easily. :D

    Way to go!

Thanks, I really am very pleased that someone besides myself (and Dragona) likes what we've done here.

I must admit that your comment has reminded me that I still wanted to make blog posts automatically add a return at the end of them so that the comment count would be on the next line without my having to end every post with on a new blank line, and that I hadn't gotten back to my 'to do' list that I'd posted as a comment sometime last month yet... *sigh*

On a more productive note, I just got done downloading a bunch of new smilies that Dragona helped me pick out which I need to incorporate into here and then post a blog entry (or a comment?) to explain their usage and demonstrate what each one looks like.

Progress all around. I think by the time 0.6 rolls out this software should easily surpass what I've seen of Moveable Type, and at least a couple of other blog scripts.

BTW, I think the cookie settings are not quite working. The name didn't stick and the url expired after the browser closed. Might want to check on that.

I'd very much have to agree on all counts. Both for good and bad.

It seems that my timing for changing out the wording of the copyright notice below for Kiasyn's Sandbox button was not very good as a couple of hours later he transferred his own Sandbox site to QSFP and hasn't replaced the button image yet.

Regarding the cookie issue, I was discussing it with Devenon earlier tonight and he'd observed the same thing in his Sandbox as well. It's as if the cookie expires at the end of the session rather than the 2038 you'd said it should. Since I've never even considered trying to do anything involving cookies myself before, I'd been meaning to bring this to your attention, though it's hardly urgent and I've been a tad busy tonight. ;)
